Our mission is to strengthen the cyber resiliency of organizations through unprecedented visibility into networks and access policies
Network Perception protects industrial control systems by ensuring network access security as the first line of perimeter defense. Our monitoring software provides complete network transparency and continuous mapping to better support cybersecurity compliance and enable greater cyber resiliency.
- Launched in 2014 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Research Park
- Founded by a team of experts on network security and critical infrastructure protection
- Inspired and informed by ongoing consultations with NERC, FERC, DOE, and DHS
History: Prof. David M. Nicol and Prof. William H. Sanders of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have co-led the development of the network access policy tool, NetAPT. The development of the technology was largely directed by the Ph.D. effort of Sankalp Singh, a graduate of the University of Illinois. Mouna Bamba directed the software development and the team was awarded a U.S. patent for the network analysis algorithm. The development was also guided by Edmond Rogers, who has extensive experience working in industry as well as working with the auditing process. Robin Berthier joined the team to lead the transfer of the technology towards commercialization, thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Science Foundation.
